Travis Young

Chief Scientific Officer

Travis leads therapeutics strategy at Foresite Labs, working across company creation, scientific diligence, and portfolio development. He brings experience building and advancing drug discovery programs from early biology through clinical validation.

Prior to joining Foresite Labs, Travis spent 14 years at Scripps Research and Calibr-Skaggs, the drug discovery and development division of Scripps Research, where he most recently served as Executive Vice President. His work spanned oncology, immunology, metabolic disease, and regenerative medicine, with leadership across institutional strategy, portfolio governance, partnerships, and scientific operations.

At Calibr-Skaggs, Travis led program teams in biologics and cell therapy, with an emphasis on translating differentiated biology into first-in-human clinical trials in oncology. Travis’ work has been published in high-impact journals such as Science, Gut, and Cell, and his patents and publications have been cited more than 6,500 times.

Travis was trained as a chemical biologist. He earned his PhD in chemical biology from Scripps Research and completed postdoctoral training in natural products chemistry at Harvard Medical School. He received his BS in biochemistry from Boston College.
